Even assuming corresponding level 20 godslayers with a full +5 modifier in their saves, characters are basically going to auto-fail any save they don't have proficiency in and they only make their proficient saves about half the time. Provided it uses a normal level 20 proficiency bonus. Whatever way you look at it, doing the Endless Sea of Undead thing isn't a strategy, it's an exercise in watching a Dynasty Warriors game in (D&D) real life, right before the demigod walks up to you and uses whatever arbitrary spell it likes to make you into either lawn furniture or meat confetti.įrankly? Assuming a demigod has a 30 in its casting stat, the save DC for its abilities is 8+10+7, or 25. a single zombie's limit on its ability to move in and swipe. Even if you assume a Combat Shuffle of zombies moving in and out of range, eventually you run into a limit of how much shuffle you can accomplish within twenty feet, i.e. And most of your undead.Įven assuming the demigod is Gargantuan and a much larger number of creatures can fit in around it to swing, nothing in the game is so big that all one thousand zombies can attack at once. And in the meantime, the demigod with full access to the wizard and cleric spell lists and, presumably, the ability to use certain divine powers will be trashing your horde of undead and/or possibly dropping Meteors on you. You get eight swings per round with a bunch of zombies, which nets a crit roughly once every other round on average. So, what would you build to stand up to the demigod?Ī thousand cold bodies can't all attack one Medium creature per round. That being said, the build could be one of the following:

They have a +20 to hit, or more, so high AC is also pretty useless. They automatically go first in combat, so initiative is basically useless. They can cast all wizard/cleric spells and cantrips, and have the same amount of spell slots equal to a lv 20 wizard. In addition, just some things about demigods: The Character can't be an Aasimar unless they are a fallen Aasimar, for obvious reasons.

The character can, however have levels in oath-breaker paladin, because they, well, broke their oath. The character also can't have levels in warlock, because their patron also probably wouldn't be OK with them trying to become a god.The character can't have levels in Paladin, Cleric, or Druid, due to the fact that these classes get their powers/ magic from gods, and a god wouldn't be OK with one of their followers trying to ascend to godhood. The Character would need to be able to kill the demigod, with the intent of becoming a god themselves. What is a D&D build you can find that would be able to ascend to godhood via killing a demigod?
